Hello all,
I intend to be at space as well, probably from 8ish. Converting a Sonoff to
a power meter. .. knowing myself, this will keep me focussed for rest of
the month.
See you tonight.

Hiya Folks,
See next open night, would it be ok if I used the 3D printer to print
a set of guard rails for my yaesu FT-818ND? I'm happy to pay for the
use of the plastic like. It would be great if anyone could run me
through the process too because I've not used any 3d printer kit in
about 5 years.
Best wishes,
Johnny
Hey all,
Bit of a long shot question: I am looking for a bandsaw, to split a
couple of thick planks in two. Until today I never needed a bandsaw, so
I don't own one...Has anyone on here a bandsaw at home, or know a
friend/family member in Aberdeen(shire) who would allow me to use theirs
for 10 minutes? It would need to be a bandsaw with cut depth of approx
125mm.
Cheerio,
Wouter
Hi Friends!
We've had quite a few new faces pop into the space over the last few weeks (I count 7 new-ish faces last night?), and I think it's worth getting brushed up on how we run!
I've made some changes to the induction page on the wiki, feel free to take a look and make some more changes!
https://wiki.57north.org.uk/admin/membership_induction
I'd really like to firm up our open and close procedures and make sure that we follow them - I'm as guilty as everyone else at leaving the space a bit untidy. Hopefully by having a defined set of actions and spaces to check on at the end of each open evening / other session, we can keep the place tidy, welcoming and usable for ourselves.
A QR code or list on the way out would help as a reminder, maybe.
I'd love to label each table/major working area. Midder - is this a good use for the vinyl cutter?
Longer term, I wouldn't mind a model of our space so we can have a map on the wiki of various areas.
I am going to hit Tesco buy some cleaning and organisational stuff tonight while I 3d print some stuff - surface disinfectant, more surface wipes, a mug tree.
Is there anything else trivial that people want bought to make life a little better?
Cheers,
H

Hi Y'all
The Outer Spaces organisation is doing more in Aberdeen this year.
There are micro commissions...
https://outerspaces.org/opportunities/aberdeen-micro-commissions
...which, for the TLDR, you can get ~£1000 of funding and some space, like
a city centre office floor, a high street shop, a retail unit in a shopping
centre and a whole office block in Dyce
So I did sort of wonder if we could come up with an idea. Perhaps an
interactive thing of electronics, sound, lights and mechanical curios,
exhibition & venue thing, in an empty shop on Union Street? Not sure
really.
There is more general info at...
https://outerspaces.org/opportunities/https://outerspaces.org/opportunities/curator-in-residence-aberdeen
Some fiends have some great studio space across from the Northern Hotel,
via the Outer Spaces scheme.
