While we’re not doing anything officially on Friday, I am going to spend the day Working From Hackerspace and would love you to join me!
I’ll be doing a little bit of my day job, a little bit of Debian, a little bit of ham radio and making a few litres of hopefully competent coffee.
I’ll make sure I have some pastries around for breakfast & snacks and then most likely head over to Crema [1] for lunch.
I don’t yet have a Friday night plan but I’m open to suggestions for after I’ve collected both Nick and Kenny.

The folks at AAoD gave us an old robot, to see if anyone wanted to try
to fix it up or tinker with it. It's a Toymax R.A.D. from 1998, which
must have been an absolutely awesome toy back then.

So we seem to now have a shelf for old Robots, which feels like a
thing every hackspace should have :)

I have a knitting machine in my flat that Mike gave me a few years ago that has gotten very little use since then because of the time and space needed to set it up. I would like to take it into the space and leave it set up in the hopes that I (and possibly other people) can make more use of it there.
I've measured the spare space between sewing radio and media desks, printer and oval table and if we shuffle them all right a bit and condense them together can create ~2m of space to left of sewing desk and could put the knitting machine there. Knitting machine is pretty shallow so would improve access to the shelves there too and could make more use of them than as dumping ground.
If no one has any objections to this plan I will put it into action towards the end of this week (unless I get sidetracked with other things and then it'll be later...).

It's Tuesday, so we will have our weekly open night..again!
If you've not heard of us, 57North get up to a range of activities on
Tuesday nights in our shared workspace, including (but not limited to)
social contact, programming, manufacturing weird things, consuming sugary
treats and the odd can of alcoholic beverage. Typically we kick off at 1930.

...it looks like this afternoon and evening might be good for Aurora
spotting, perhaps between 17:00 and 18:00. With sunset being 16:13,
clear skies between 16:00 and 18:00 and peak Aurora
between 17:00 and 18:00, maybe we'll be in luck.
As someone who's probably* never seen the northern lights, any
suggestions on where to go near Aberdeen, or tips? Also, for the sake
of kids' expectation management, if it looks like it does in photos,
to the naked eye?
