Hello
Oddly enough, 7 days after the last one, it's Tuesday again, so open
evening at the hackspace.
I'll be there from around 6pm.
The details of Open Tuesday including 'getting here' are available at
https://www.57north.org.uk/open-evenings
We're at...
Suite H, Kettock Lodge Innovation Park,
Campus Two Bridge of Don,
Aberdeen, AB22 8GU
It's the AGM this evening too, at 8pm, we've got an agenda at
https://github.com/hackerdeen/meetings/blob/master/2024/2024-07-30_AGM_Agen…
See you there if you're coming :)
Cheers
Andy
hi folks,
I have a suspicion my home office does has issues with CO2 accumulation
when windows/doors are closed, which makes me sleepy. It is that, or my
work is not challenging enough ;-)
To rule out the latter, I would like to test the indoor air quality for a
couple of days. Has anyone got perhaps an unused CO2 sensor lingering
about, or Chinese rip-off of the SCD-40 sensor, that I could use for a
couple of days?
Cheers,
Wouter (Aberdeen)
Hello
It's the hackspace AGM tomorrow, at 8pm. It's more of an
organisational formality, than anything mad exciting, but it'd be
great if you can make it, in person or virtually. It usually lasts
about 20 or 30 minutes.
Some AGM things to mention...
We've sent a link to the agenda previously, but it's at...
https://github.com/hackerdeen/meetings/blob/master/2024/2024-07-30_AGM_Agen…
If you're not already a director, have you thought about becoming one?
We need members to volunteer to be directors at AGMs, the space can't
function without directors, so please consider it. I'd say it
probably requires 30 minutes per month at most, so it's not a big
commitment of time. Also it enables you to help concoct evil and
sinister plans for world domination (not really, sadly, just trying to
make it sound more exciting).
You can join remotely via Google Meet with the link
https://meet.google.com/cfr-owbj-pnr , sorry, we should use something
non-proprietary, we'll try to do that next time.
Hope to see you there.
Andy
Hi,
Sorry, I won't be able to make it into Aberdeen for our HackSpace AGM
because we've got visitors arriving here on Tue 30 Jul.
I'll probably be in again on Tue 13 Aug.
Hope all goes well,
Tony.
Hey
I've been pondering what to do with the large amount of lego we have
in the house. The kids are well into their teens and don't really use
it anymore.
So, my question is, would a large amount of lego be a positive thing
to have in the hackspace? It currently lives in a large pine tray,
140cm long, by 70cm wide, and 14cm deep, which has a lid that sits on
top.
I guess it could live in the sofa area, and could double up as a
table. It'd maybe make the space more kid friendly, and might be fun
for everyone. Conversely, we have a lot of stuff already, and maybe
we don't need more. It could be put in a smaller box/boxes and be kept
out of the way, the pine tray is pretty large.
What do you think? Positives, negatives, suggestions, thoughts?
Cheers
Andy
Hi team,
campGND this year is different to prior years. We are making a deliberate effort to think about our event's impact on the environment and would like you to make conscious choices about your impact on the site, the environment, the people and consider how you spend your time on site too.
To support this we will not be running any generators - we nearly managed it last year! The volume of music will be monitored - we want to hear the birds and enjoy the place we come to visit and also offer a welcoming space to our attendees with sensory issues and sensitivities.
Let’s be each other’s recommendation engines - we wills be more democratic on music selection and ask for more people to play their music in the background. No one person should be burdened with the task of group entertainment and sharing little bits of our passions will hopefully spark joy in others. Be prepared with offline-first music, and think hard about what music you want to share with others.
We still want more people to talk about their passion and incomplete projects too - email talks(a)campgnd.com!
With sharing in mind please volunteer to help in the kitchen and share your culinary passion by feeding us! We have budget for food, so you won’t be out of pocket. If you don’t want to cook, please help clean up and tidy up after food service is done. Please sign up for all kitchen tasks and menu planning at https://scottishconsulate.org/campgnd2024/kitchen
If you can, please either car-share on your way to the site or use public transit to get to Huntly station - there will be enough vehicles and people to shuttle you. See who’s got space at https://scottishconsulate.org/campgnd2024/attendees. You could cycle and put your bags in the van/a vehicle too!
Love,
Team campGND
Hi All,
My ThinkPad T430 has decided to no longer function. Would anyone like the dock?
I also have a Cisco 1800 router and an old Cisco WAP, is anyone playing with a Cisco lab and would like to have these?
Thanks,
Iain.

hello there,
It's Tuesday, so we will have our weekly open night.
If you've not heard of us, 57North get up to a range of activities on
Tuesday nights in our shared workspace, including (but not limited to)
social contact, programming, manufacturing weird things, consuming sugary
treats and the odd can of alcoholic beverage. Typically we kick off at 1930.
We're located at:
Suite H Kettock Lodge
Innovation Park
Campus Two
Bridge of Don
Aberdeen
AB22 8GU
Instructions for getting in are here: https://www.57north.org.uk/open
-evenings .Hit the buzzer (Suite H) and someone shall come and rescue you
from downstairs after a brief wait.
There's plenty of parking, but if you don't have transport, then get in
touch either here or IRC and someone may be able to help you out! The
number 1 bus comes nearby too.
If you're new, I'd suggest you bring a laptop, and perhaps a project you
want to work on. If you're not new, shoot a reply to the list and tell us
what you'll be up to, and maybe consider bringing a friend. Please mention
a time if you'll be in before me!
We like our space being accessible for all. When visiting, please ensure
you tidy up after yourself, clean any dishes, cups, cutlery and store them
away. There are vacuum cleaners too, for cleaning the floor. If you have
any questions, please ask one of the regular visitors or members for advise.
I will be in today from about 8pm, preparing some 3D prints. What are you
up to?
Cheerio,Wouter
Hi
I'll be in around 8pm, probably just tinkering with my EMF Camp badge or
messing around with API bits and bobs.
See you there :)
