17th Consular Convention for Control & Prohibition of Pandemics

Hi everyone, This Friday (16th) is the third Friday of the month and so at 8pm we will be having the seventeenth Consular Convention for Control & Prohibition of Pandemics on WorkAdventure/Jitsi [1]. Everyone is invited to turn up, have a few lemonades and shoot the breeze. This is an informal catchup for 57North members and Scottish Consulate diaspora around the world; a continuation of our regular lockdown video calls. Good day beautiful nerds, 'Tis Tuesday once again, so we will have our weekly open night! Needle's going down, will it snow?? If you've not heard of us, 57North get up to a range of activities on Tuesday nights in our little clubhouse, including (but not limited to) social contact, programming, manufacturing weird things and consuming sugary treats. Typically we kick off at 1930. We're located at: Suite H Kettock Lodge Innovation Park Campus Two Bridge of Don Aberdeen AB22 8GU There's plenty parking, but if you don't have transport get in touch either here or IRC and someone may be able to help you out! If you're new, I'd suggest you bring a laptop, and perhaps a project you want to work on. 57North Winter Hackerparty 2-4 December

Hey y’all! We’ve been talking about the plans for the weekend tonight, and the shape we’ve come up with for the weekend is as follows: Friday night! Those who are around are welcome to join us at 7pm, 6 Degrees North, Littejohn Street. Saturday! We plan to be in from ‘after lunch’, let’s say 1pm - we’ll computer and project until we get a little bored of that and drink until the early hours! It’s likely that we’ll do a group order of food, and the hacklab shop is stacked with food, drink and such to consume - please remember to bring money for both. We’d really appreciate it if you brought a donation for the hackerspace too if you’re not a member. We’ve even had offers of a DJ, if you know anyone else who wants to bring music on Saturday evening, direct them my way! Sunday will begin likely the same time, and be a lot more relaxed if and when things happen. It’s entirely possible that members will be in earlier, or could be talked into turning up earlier if you ask on the discuss list - maybe some already have plans to come in early! Hackerpsace Openday, 8th Nov, 7:30 till Late

Hello Everyone Today is the weekly openday. We Should bo open from about 7:30pm till late at Kettock Lodge in the bridge of don. For directions use https://www.57north.org.uk/contact I'm going to try and be there from 7:30. I would like to discuss the possibility of having a fediverse node for Aberdeen, I do help out as the Aberdeen social centre and would like to see if there is enough interest to run an instance. So I'll be talking about the potential for that. What will the rest of you be up to, remember if you come along for the first time you can bring a laptop or project, it'll help you settle in, or if you are comfortable just chatting. Midder.

57North Snack Bank

Evening lovely people, 57North Snack Bank is now up and running, its a lot like revbank if you’ve ever used that before, otherwise here’s a quick run down. When you pick up something from the snack stash scan it with the barcode reader on the table and once you’ve scanned everything you want type in your user ID to bill it to your account. The first time you use it you’ll need to use `adduser` to create a ledger for yourself. When you put cash in the box / bank transfer to hibby use the `deposit` command to record this against your balance. If at any point you get stuck the `help` command should, well, help. Its written in Rust and the code is on GitHub at https://github.com/TheEnbyperor/57north-bank. Improvements or suggestions are very much welcome, open an issue/PR as appropriate. Happy hacking! Q
