Hey, hello, happy Tuesday
Hope you're well, it's been a warm and cloudy Tuesday so far out here in the borders of the 'shire, so open evening at the hackspace is hopefully a comfortable temperature.
We're in the throbbing heart of Bridge of Don south, at...

...just press buzzer H and someone will come and let you in after a brief wait. Reply if you have any questions, if you want to share your plans, or if you'd like a lift.
I'll be along around 8 ish, will be doing some meshtastic and/or software shenanigans and who knows what, being a bit tired or something!
See you there :)

Announcing: the 57North Hacklab Summer BBQ 2025!
Better information with plans, timings, signups etc is available on the wiki at: https://wiki.57north.org.uk/events/2025/SummerBBQ
Who: Hackers, crackers, coders, radioists, friends, Romans and solderers. We will be live on Planet Earth and invite all good galactic beings who can abide by the Consulate’s CoC [1].
When: Saturday 16th August, 2025, with extra days on Friday 15th and Sunday 17th.
Why: It’s Debian Day[2] on the 16th of August, that seems like a great excuse for a party.
What: A BBQ and chill day on Saturday 16th. Friday and Sunday are additional Hacking days, and there shall be a mandatory tidy up on Sunday.
Friday: 9-5, hacking, 5-late, dinner and drinks somewhere.
Saturday: Hacking, socialising, lightning talks on Saturday afternoon. Depending on how Debian we’re feeling, I might operate a key signing party. Get your GPG/PGP key ready.
Saturday Afternoon (4ish?): We close computers and light the BBQ to begin the food ceremonies. Bring some good stuff to cook, be prepared to help.
Sunday: Cleanup, fix some bugs, head home and leave the place better than we found it.
For the lightning talks: you are limited to 5 minutes, Q&A is allowed and all topics are welcome, ranging from “My favourite compiler flag” to “Why bicycle bottom brackets are brilliant”.
To commemorate Debian Day, we have been allocated the callsign GB0DEB, and will be operating radios all weekend under that callsign! Feel free to have a try. There will be data and voice stations running over the course of the weekend and tuition/advice/guidance available.

I'll be along around 8 ish after a cycle around the bridge of don, and once I arrive I will be playing https://meshtastic.org/ with Tony ideally, and maybe talking about https://meshcore.co.uk/ and/or https://reticulum.network/ as interesting alternatives to approach his problem.
Reply if you have any questions, if you want to share your plans or if you'd like a lift.
See you there :)

Hi everyone,
This Friday (21st) is the third Friday of the month and so at 8pm we
will be having the thirty-sixth Consular Convention for Control &
Prohibition of Pandemics on Jitsi [1].
Everyone is invited to turn up, have a few lemonades and shoot the
breeze. This is an informal catchup for 57North members and Scottish
Consulate diaspora around the world.
Hope to see you on Jitsi this Friday at 8pm Aberdeen time.
Cheers,
Nick

Fit like,
Happy UNESCO World Engineering Day to those who celebrate!
It's Tuesday, so we will have our weekly open night! I
If you've not heard of us, 57North get up to a range of activities on Tuesday nights in our shared workspace, including (but not limited to) social contact, programming, manufacturing weird things, consuming sugary treats and the odd can of alcoholic beverage.
We're located at:
Suite H Kettock Lodge
Innovation Park
Campus Two
Bridge of Don
Aberdeen
AB22 8GU
Instructions for getting in are here: https://www.57north.org.uk/open-evenings .Hit the buzzer (Suite H) and someone shall come and rescue you from downstairs after a brief wait.
There's plenty of parking, but if you don't have transport, then get in touch either here or IRC and someone may be able to help you out! The number 1 bus comes nearby too.
If you're new, I'd suggest you bring a laptop, and perhaps a project you want to work on.
If you're not new, shoot a reply to the list and tell us what you'll be up to, and maybe consider bringing a friend. Please mention a time if you'll be in before me!
We like our space being accessible for all. When visiting, please ensure you tidy up after yourself, clean any dishes, cups, cutlery and store them away. There are vacuum cleaners too, for cleaning the floor. If you have any questions, please ask one of the regular visitors or members for advice.
I will be in today from about 8pm, presumably thinking about our new auth system, remote members and looking at things which are linux shaped while grumbling about software.
What are you up to?

Fit Like!
Following the entertainment of the Christmas do, let's get together and have a
party to bring in the new year!
Kick off at 4ish, 31st December. Bring your own booze and snacks! Bring some
friends too - we've got a couple are coming up from Glasgow.
With yet another early start to the proceedings, we'll need to think about
dinner! While it was good fun to have Pizza at Christmas, I think all the
takeaways will be busy - I have this half bake idea of a pot luck at a
mutually agreed time (6/7pm?).
I can bring down my instant pot to use as a small air fryer/oven unless
someone has an actual air fryer that we could use? There's also the hacklab
food telly for microwaving food.
Any suggestions for themes? Or things to hack on? I'm down for toothbrush
robot battles and Kenny wants to bring some board games. Any requests and/or
advances on that?
Hx
