"Funny, provocative and surprisingly accessible, MANUFACTURING CONSENT
explores the political life and ideas of world-renowned linguist,
intellectual and political activist Noam Chomsky. Through a dynamic
collage of biography, archival gems, imaginative graphics and outrageous
illustrations, Mark Achbar and Peter Wintonick's award-winning
documentary highlights Chomsky's probing analysis of mass media and his
critique of the forces at work behind the daily news. Available for the
first time anywhere on DVD, MANUFACTURING CONSENT features appearances
by journalists Bill Moyers and Peter Jennings, pundit William F. Buckley
Jr., novelist Tom Wolfe and philosopher Michel Foucault. This Edition
features an exclusive ten-years-after video interview with Chomsky."

Another week, another step on the road to somewhere, this weekend we
have a lot of things
As part of the Stop Rosebank Day Of Action [1] there is a demonstration
outside the North Sea Transition Authority in broad street. on Saturday
at 12:30PM. Specifically relating Scotland the current research shows a
slowdown of The Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation [2] this
will be disastrous to anyone living in the north of Europe. There should
be no new Oil and Gas exploitation!
Saturday in also Doors Open Day, the ATUC will be open for people to
visit and there will be a slow cafe with the usual teas, coffees and
cakes for visitors. As part of the above day of action we will also be
showing the Museum of GreenWashing in the Centre it is a exhibition of
examples of GreenWashing. Action is required to counter this propaganda
and to ensure a livable environment for future generations.
There is also another anti-immigration protest outside Marischal College
on Saturday at 2PM, we will be countering their disinformation about
immigration by handing out information flyers to inform the public.

discussing The Conspiracy of Law [3] by Howard Zinn.

ABERDEEN ANTI-FASCIST ALLIANCE
Saturday
August
23rd
17:00-19:00
BST
Community groups and local residents are gathering on Saturday 23
August, from 5-7pm, for a peaceful event outside the Hampton Hotel on
Straik Road, Westhill. There will be food, music, colourful banners and
messages of hope for the refugees living there.
Why Now? Throughout August, angry protesters have targeted people
seeking asylum across the UK, standing outside their homes and shouting
threats and abuse. This has happened at two hotels in Aberdeen. Westhill
is their next target.
These protesters - often bussed in from all over Scotland - say it's
about local concerns. So why are they targeting vulnerable people who
have nothing to do with government cuts to public services? Protesters
have zero evidence for their accusations about hotel residents, who are
stuck here while the Home Office deals with a backlog of paperwork, and
who volunteered to clear our parks after Storm Floris.
Imagine fleeing your home, leaving everything behind to escape war or
persecution, and suddenly finding yourself not only alone in a new
country, but unable to go outside because a terrifying mob is
threatening your life.
This is _our_ community and we cannot let our neighbours be treated this
way.
If you're thinking, "plenty of folk will be there, I'll go if they turn
up again," please note: Saturday will be the fifth such demonstration in
our area in just three weeks - it is vital we stand together NOW and
reject this message of hate!
Please join us in a spirit of friendship and compassion to say "Our
Community Cares."
Westhill welcomes refugees, not racism!

News from Wed 13-Aug-2025
We have another week where hatred of immigrants is being stoked in
Aberdeen.
So lets get this straight, we are all aware that people are being
squeezed. Real terms wages have not increased since 2005 yet inflation
has ballooned, the cost of food, energy and the basic necessities,
almost 3 times more expensive over the last 30 years. Average house
prices 4.6 times more expensive, with most of that happening in the
2000s. We are all feeling it, but some of us want to blame the people
who just got here, not the successive governments who have put private
profit before the well-being of the people in the UK.
We are calling on everyone to share this and get people out to the Lang
Stacht this Saturday at 5:30 to send a message.
Refugees are welcome here, we are all in the same boat, lets target the
people with their hand on the tiller.
The Radical Cafe will also be back this Saturday, we will not have Vegan
Bay to provide us with delicious rowies, so please bring home bakes if
you can.

For the past two weeks there has been racist hatred stoked up in this
city with protests outside the refugee Hotel at the beech, this week
they have moved their target to the Sure Hotel on the Lang Stracht.
This is how fascism starts, cynically using 'protection of women and
children' to attack the most vulnerable in our society, migrants who
have no control over their life .
Please share this, and be there. Show that Aberdonians will not tolerate

News from Wed 06-Aug-2025
Well what a week!, and we still have this weekend to attend to.
If you are not aware, there was a far-rIght racist protest last Saturday
intent on attacking a hotel at the beach housing refugees. There was a
counter protest by local anti-fascists, they were outnumbered but the
protest didn't get to the hotel. They intend to be back this weekend,
there is also a rally in Peterhead, and counter protests arranged, so:
CALL TO ACTION!
Share the two 'ALL OUT' events below with everyone who knows racism will
not be tolerated in the North-East, and come along to the protest, we
need numbers to send the message that racism will not pass.
We also have the 18th anniversary of Hiroshima and CND have a film
showing and Vigil on Friday and Saturday see the event below. Nuclear
weapons are a blight on humanity.

URGENT CALL TO ACTION
Protest the far right in Peterhead [2]
Aberdeen Trades Union Council is making an URGENT CALL TO ACTION to all
our delegates, trade union members and associates. We have learned that
the far right will be holding demonstrations in Peterhead AND Aberdeen
this Saturday 9 August, both at 12 noon. It is imperative that we
mobilise against them and challenge their narrative of hate and racism.
In Peterhead, the so-called Peterhead United has organised a "family
friendly" event. They will be condemning council cuts as do we, but will
be turning their hatred on the wrong people. We need to turn out in
force to tell them and their supporters that it is not the fault of
immigrants and other marginalised groups. It is the rich amassing more
and more of the wealth that are to blame.
Please join our counter protest in Peterhead and show the far right that
we stand united and steadfast to condemn racism in Scotland and across
the world. Their rhetoric is designed to justify exploitative economies
and attacks on the most vulnerable and we will oppose them at every
turn.

ALL OUT THIS SATURDAY TO STAND AGAINST HATE, RACISM AND LIES.
Regretfully Aberdeen, as the rest of Scotland, has too been plagued by
the scourge of organised bigots and fascists who seek to divide our
communities at the advantage of the ruling class.
In a great show of cowardice, 100 of said individuals gathered last
Saturday to threaten asylum seekers hosted in a hotel in Aberdeen. This
hateful presence went unchallenged by Police Scotland and was not met by
a sufficiently large number of citizens who reject this rhetoric of
hate.
This same group will be gathering again at the Links Road Hotel on
Saturday 9th August at 12noon, attempting to spread the same lies about
migrants and marginalised groups within our communities. We need your
help more than ever to counter this hateful presence.
We stand united and steadfast to condemn racism in Scotland and across
the world. We condemn the racist, state-sponsored demonisation of brown
people, and the associated colonial rhetoric. This rhetoric is designed
to justify exploitative economies and attacks on the most vulnerable as
well as imperialist projects across the world, not least the monstrous
settler colonial project in Palestine.

_'Escapism has always been an adjective used to describe the dance.
That's an outsider's view. Solidarity is what it really offers'_ Theo
Parish DJ & Producer
You are all invited to a dance I'm organising with others on Sunday 3rd
August between 2pm - 6pm at Krakatoa.
Given the dark and challenging times we're in, some may say, going
dancing feels odd or even inappropriate. Some may say this is because in
our society dancing in clubs or bars often equates to hedonism. But I
would say, to dance, is to be human. We've been moving our bodies to
music for millennia, long before capitalism commodified the 'dance'. 'We
Got The Streets' is my contribution to re-commoning the dance, a space
for people to move together, free up stress from within the body,
experience some collective joy and energising us for whatever challenges
may lay ahead.
I look forward to welcoming many of you in Krakatoa on bank holiday
Sunday.
