ASC WEEKLY NEWSLETTER ------------------------- News from Wed 13-Aug-2025 We have another week where hatred of immigrants is being stoked in Aberdeen. So lets get this straight, we are all aware that people are being squeezed. Real terms wages have not increased since 2005 yet inflation has ballooned, the cost of food, energy and the basic necessities, almost 3 times more expensive over the last 30 years. Average house prices 4.6 times more expensive, with most of that happening in the 2000s. We are all feeling it, but some of us want to blame the people who just got here, not the successive governments who have put private profit before the well-being of the people in the UK. We are calling on everyone to share this and get people out to the Lang Stacht this Saturday at 5:30 to send a message. Refugees are welcome here, we are all in the same boat, lets target the people with their hand on the tiller. We are also Saddened to hear of the passing of Steven from the Vegan Bay Bakery who supported us so well with cakes every week, our hearts go out to his family, and we'll greatly miss the butteries. External ABERDEEN ANTI-FASCIST ALLIANCE Saturday August 16th 17:30-21:00 BST For the past two weeks there has been racist hatred stoked up in this city with protests outside the refugee Hotel at the beech, this week they have moved their target to the Sure Hotel on the Lang Stracht. This is how fascism starts, cynically using 'protection of women and children' to attack the most vulnerable in our society, migrants who have no control over their life . Please share this, and be there. Show that Aberdonians will not tolerate bigotry or racism in our communities.
