Haim Bresheeth is a Jewish anti-Zionist activist, film-maker and academic. He is the son of Holocaust survivors and is the co-founder of the Jewish Network for Palestine. Haim will share his thoughts on the disgraceful attempts to close down free speech on Israeli genocide, which we are seeing both in academia (e.g. locally, by the University of Aberdeen) and more widely. As well as Haim's presentation, there will be a chance for discussion and to find out how you can get involved in our campaign for Free Speech on Genocide. ASC WEEKLY NEWSLETTER ------------------------- News from Fri 30-May-2025 Aberdeen is on a high after the winning of the Cup, and innumerable people flooded the streets last Sunday to celebrate. Next weekend we also have the Grampian Pride 2025 [1], with many events round the city on the 7th of June. However people may not be aware there was a demonstration and counter demonstration last Saturday as part of "The Great British National Strike" pushed by a far-right coalition, with demands taking aim at 'illegal' immigration, Net Zero and other racist talking points. The counter protestors last Saturday were outnumbered by the bigots who proceeded to hurl slurs and hate at them, while the police stood by. It seems there are more of them willing to be on the streets of Aberdeen then people willing to confront them, this is not good for the future of Aberdeen as a safe place for everyone. In our communities we need to not sow division where we can have solidarity, and leave the door open to people who will work in solidarity with us. ASC WEEKLY NEWSLETTER ------------------------- News from Fri 16-May-2025 A Late Email this week, but we have the usual smorgasbord of events, and a new shiny format for the newsletter. SPSC is Celebrating 77 years Since the start of the Nakba in Palestine with a Protest in front of the art gallery where they still promote BP who have the largest share in the BTC pipeline which provides Israel with most of their Crude Oil to be refined for the fighter jets, which the UK also provide parts for, currently engaged in bombing Gaza. We also just had another great meeting by The Marxist Caucus discussing the response to the rise of Reform and reactionary politics in the UK and Scotland, look for more from them. May Day March, Radical Cafe and more

Aberdeen Social Centre - Newsletter Hello Everyone. Another week and another set of events. SEE HERE - Aberdeen Social Centre | Aberdeen Social Centre | Aberdeen Social Centre [1] This Saturday is the May Day March & Rally. Assemble at Rubislaw Terrace at 11, leaving at 1130, Union Street, via Union Terrace and Schoolhill and rally outside Marischal College at around 1215. There will be speeches, drummers and also the Food Not Bombs stall. Bring you banner and chants no matter which bloc you are in. After the rally the usual Centre Radical Cafe will be on. In other news we are thinking hard on what we do for the 2025 Activist Fair (usually held in September in Old Aberdeen). If you or your local group have some ideas on what you would like to do - please drop us a line!! In other other news Aberdeen Anarchist Group have started a new zine with the pilot issue about May Day OUT NOW - grab a copy at the Social Centre. The zine will appear monthly and may change your life. No promises though.
