News from Wed 06-Aug-2025

Well what a week!, and we still have this weekend to attend to.

If you are not aware, there was a far-rIght racist protest last Saturday intent on attacking a hotel at the beach housing refugees. There was a counter protest by local anti-fascists, they were outnumbered but the protest didn't get to the hotel. They intend to be back this weekend, there is also a rally in Peterhead, and counter protests arranged, so:

CALL TO ACTION!

Share the two 'ALL OUT' events below with everyone who knows racism will not be tolerated in the North-East, and come along to the protest, we need numbers to send the message that racism will not pass.

We also have the 18th anniversary of Hiroshima and CND have a film showing and Vigil on Friday and Saturday see the event below. Nuclear weapons are a blight on humanity.

Peace and Rowies.

URGENT CALL TO ACTION

Protest the far right in Peterhead

Aberdeen Trades Union Council is making an URGENT CALL TO ACTION to all our delegates, trade union members and associates. We have learned that the far right will be holding demonstrations in Peterhead AND Aberdeen this Saturday 9 August, both at 12 noon. It is imperative that we mobilise against them and challenge their narrative of hate and racism.

In Peterhead, the so-called Peterhead United has organised a "family friendly" event. They will be condemning council cuts as do we, but will be turning their hatred on the wrong people. We need to turn out in force to tell them and their supporters that it is not the fault of immigrants and other marginalised groups. It is the rich amassing more and more of the wealth that are to blame.
Please join our counter protest in Peterhead and show the far right that we stand united and steadfast to condemn racism in Scotland and across the world. Their rhetoric is designed to justify exploitative economies and attacks on the most vulnerable and we will oppose them at every turn.

ALL OUT THIS SATURDAY TO STAND AGAINST HATE, RACISM AND LIES.

Regretfully Aberdeen, as the rest of Scotland, has too been plagued by the scourge of organised bigots and fascists who seek to divide our communities at the advantage of the ruling class.

In a great show of cowardice, 100 of said individuals gathered last Saturday to threaten asylum seekers hosted in a hotel in Aberdeen. This hateful presence went unchallenged by Police Scotland and was not met by a sufficiently large number of citizens who reject this rhetoric of hate.

This same group will be gathering again at the Links Road Hotel on Saturday 9th August at 12noon, attempting to spread the same lies about migrants and marginalised groups within our communities. We need your help more than ever to counter this hateful presence.

We stand united and steadfast to condemn racism in Scotland and across the world. We condemn the racist, state-sponsored demonisation of brown people, and the associated colonial rhetoric. This rhetoric is designed to justify exploitative economies and attacks on the most vulnerable as well as imperialist projects across the world, not least the monstrous settler colonial project in Palestine.
