'Escapism has always been an adjective used to describe the dance. That's an outsider's view. Solidarity is what it really offers' Theo Parish DJ & Producer

You are all invited to a dance I'm organising with others on Sunday 3rd August between 2pm – 6pm at Krakatoa.

Given the dark and challenging times we're in, some may say, going dancing feels odd or even inappropriate. Some may say this is because in our society dancing in clubs or bars often equates to hedonism. But I would say, to dance, is to be human. We've been moving our bodies to music for millennia, long before capitalism commodified the 'dance'. 'We Got The Streets' is my contribution to re-commoning the dance, a space for people to move together, free up stress from within the body, experience some collective joy and energising us for whatever challenges may lay ahead.

I look forward to welcoming many of you in Krakatoa on bank holiday Sunday.
