Asa Winstanley has been writing about Palestine and the Israel lobby since 2005. He has been an associate editor and reporter with the award-winning website The Electronic Intifada for more than a decade. He spent two years living under Israeli occupation in the West Bank.
In an electrifying account, as meticulously researched as it is fast-paced, Winstanley shows how Labour's anti-Semitism crisis was manufactured by those who feared Jeremy Corbyn's support for the Palestinian cause and a broad progressive agenda.
Drawing on new interviews with many of those victimised in purges the Labour leadership claimed were necessary to tackle anti-Semitism, Winstanley exposes a highly effective operation that saw the Israeli embassy, the right-wing of the Labour Party, and the mainstream media acting in concert to prevent a socialist from entering Downing Street.
Scottish PSC has been a target of the Israel lobby long before Corbyn stood for Labour leadership and is at the fore in fighting back against Police Scotland and Crown Office attempts to smother our rights to campaign in support of Palestinian rights. Asa's work is invaluable in providing a wider context for Israels efforts to defend its apartheid regime.
Please note, this event is free, but Scottish PSC welcomes donations to cover event costs (such as venue hire and speaker travel) - suggested donation £5, payable at checkout.
SIGNED COPIES OF ASA'S BOOK WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT THE EVENT
