News from Fri 30-May-2025

Aberdeen is on a high after the winning of the Cup, and innumerable people flooded the streets last Sunday to celebrate.

Next weekend we also have the Grampian Pride 2025, with many events round the city on the 7th of June.

However people may not be aware there was a demonstration and counter demonstration last Saturday as part of "The Great British National Strike" pushed by a far-right coalition, with demands taking aim at 'illegal' immigration, Net Zero and other racist talking points.

The counter protestors last Saturday were outnumbered by the bigots who proceeded to hurl slurs and hate at them, while the police stood by. It seems there are more of them willing to be on the streets of Aberdeen then people willing to confront them, this is not good for the future of Aberdeen as a safe place for everyone.

In our communities we need to not sow division where we can have solidarity, and leave the door open to people who will work in solidarity with us. It is a time to build.
