Chaired by ATUC President Tommy Campbell, the event will commemorate the
anti-fascists victory on 25th September 1935 over the British Union of
Fascists when their public meeting in Aberdeen's Music Hall was
abandoned because the Music Hall had been occupied by hundreds of
anti-fascists.
Local historian Barney Crockett will give a broad outline of the
anti-fascist activities during the 1930's leading up to this victory.
Communist Party activist Josh Morris will give a political analysis on
the rise of Fascism throughout the UK and how its ideology is being used
to preserve the interests of the bosses and their political friends in
the Government.
Aberdeen TUC Secretary Kate Ramsden will outline her thoughts on the
current fight against the far right/fascism from the ATUC and STUC
perspective especially the role of Trade Union Branches and Trades
Councils.
This anti-fascist event has been arranged with the support of the
Aberdeen TUC and the Morning Star Readers and Supporters Group.

explores the political life and ideas of world-renowned linguist,
intellectual and political activist Noam Chomsky. Through a dynamic
collage of biography, archival gems, imaginative graphics and outrageous
illustrations, Mark Achbar and Peter Wintonick's award-winning
documentary highlights Chomsky's probing analysis of mass media and his
critique of the forces at work behind the daily news. Available for the
first time anywhere on DVD, MANUFACTURING CONSENT features appearances
by journalists Bill Moyers and Peter Jennings, pundit William F. Buckley
Jr., novelist Tom Wolfe and philosopher Michel Foucault. This Edition
features an exclusive ten-years-after video interview with Chomsky."
