Good day beautiful nerds, 'Tis Tuesday once again, so we will have our weekly open
night!
Happy World Amateur Radio day to those who are radio amateurs, for those who aren't - feel free to ask about what's going on at the radio desk or come by for a play.
I'll set up our station, MS0SCZ, and send some data and/or some voice contacts with far away places before returning to my current standard activity of packet radio!
If you've not heard of us, 57North get up to a range of activities on Tuesday nights
in our little clubhouse, including (but not limited to) social contact, programming,
manufacturing weird things and consuming sugary treats. Typically we kick off at 1930.
We're located at:
Suite H
Kettock Lodge
Innovation Park
Campus Two
Bridge of Don
Aberdeen AB22 8GU
Hit the buzzer and someone shall come and rescue you from downstairs.
There's plenty parking, but if you don't have transport get in touch either here
or IRC and someone may be able to help you out! The number 1 bus comes nearby
too.
If you're new, I'd suggest you bring a laptop, and perhaps a project you want to
work on.
If you're not new, shoot a reply to the list and tell us what you'll be up to, and
maybe consider bringing a friend. Please mention a time if you'll be in before me!
I'll probably be down for 730. I'll be consuming a beer or two and palying with radios as I suggested.

Hi everyone,
This Friday (21st) is the third Friday of the month and so at 8pm we
will be having the twenty-first Consular Convention for Control &
Prohibition of Pandemics on Jitsi [1] (WorkAdventure is out of action).
Everyone is invited to turn up, have a few lemonades and shoot the
breeze. This is an informal catchup for 57North members and Scottish
Consulate diaspora around the world; a continuation of our regular
lockdown video calls.
Hope to see you on Jitsi this Friday at 8pm Aberdeen time.
Cheers,
Nick

Hi Y'all,
After the AGM we spoke about our general displeasure as a group at the state that the hackerspace is left in and agreed we'd come in this weekend to set a baseline of cleanliness - this will hopefully help us build a more welcoming, more encouraging space for people to come and visit.
Going forward, it would be really helpful if we all try and observe the departure procedure on the wiki [1] when we leave. I know it adds some time to the trip (or, alternatively, digs into hacking time) but it helps make workstations, the carpets and our general tooling much easier and more friendly to approach. I've been just as guilty as everyone else of leaving my toys out 'as I'll just be back tomorrow to finish' and then coming back a fortnight later having forgotten entirely and taken up 2 spaces at the social tables! Critically, if it's not working, the process can be updated/refined.
On Sunday, the key items I'd like to smash out (in rough order of importance) are:
* Vacuum of all carpets
* Empty bins, consider if current bin organisation makes sense given our standard waste
- Assess our volume of glass bottles and appropriate disposal
* Clean and tidy of all table surfaces and workstations.
* Manage cabling/wiring/equipment at all workstations to make them approachable and usable
- Assess what the role of each workstation is, and try to remove extraneous objects to help it be more usable. Maybe document them on the wiki.
* Look at our various logical areas and consider whether equipment stored there can be moved and/or better labelled.
* Relax and enjoy the fruits of our labour.
Critically what we don't want to do is throw out active member projects or hide anyone's toys! If there's anything else to add to the todo list, pipe up on -discuss and we can throw it on!
As a side note, our cleaning and tidying wiki page [2] is out of date, help and documentation there would be much appreciated!
